BPUTNotes.in ("BPUTNotes", "we", "us", or "our") is a free, student-run resource that shares study notes, previous year question papers, reference book links, and scholarship information for BPUT (Biju Patnaik University of Technology) students. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by BPUT.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit bputnotes.in, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using this website, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

Information you give us directly

• Contact form: when you use the "Get in Touch" form on our About page, we collect your name, phone number, and message so we can respond to you.
• Careers/recruitment form: if you apply through our embedded Google Form, the information you submit there is collected by Google Forms on our behalf.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: pages visited, time spent, links clicked, referring pages, and general device/browser information (via Google Analytics — see Section 4).
• Log data: your browser and hosting provider may automatically record IP address, browser type, and access times as part of standard web server logs.

We do not require account creation to browse notes, PYQs, books, or scholarship listings.

3. Cookies & Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) for:

• Remembering basic site preferences (e.g. a selected branch or semester filter).
• Measuring site traffic and usage patterns through Google Analytics.
• Serving relevant advertising, once advertising is enabled on this site (see Section 5).

4. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site — which pages are popular, how people navigate between Notes, PYQs, and Books, and where we can improve. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as your approximate location (city/country level), device type, and browsing behaviour on our site.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5. Advertising & Google AdSense

BPUTNotes.in uses, or intends to use, Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this and other websites.

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.

Any advertisements shown on this site are selected and served by Google or its advertising partners, and their own privacy policies govern that process. We do not control the specific ads shown to any individual visitor.

6. Third-Party Links & Services

Our Notes, PYQs, and Books pages link out to files hosted on Google Drive, and our content is powered by Google Sheets and Google Apps Script. Once you leave bputnotes.in via one of these links, that third party's own privacy policy applies — we encourage you to review it. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external sites.

We also link to our social channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) and WhatsApp for support — each of those platforms has its own privacy policy governing your interactions with them.

7. How We Use Your Information

• To respond to messages sent through our contact form.
• To review applications submitted through our careers/recruitment form.
• To understand site usage and improve navigation, content, and load performance.
• To detect and prevent misuse, spam, or abuse of our forms.
• To serve relevant advertising and measure ad performance.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Service providers that help us run the site — Google (Analytics, Sheets, Apps Script, Forms, AdSense) and our hosting provider.
• Legal authorities, if required to comply with a legal obligation or valid request.

10. Children's Privacy

BPUTNotes.in is intended for university-level students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will remove it.

11. Data Retention & Security

We retain contact form submissions only as long as needed to respond to your query and keep basic records. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information from unauthorized access, but no method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or regulatory reasons. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
